At Anime Conji 2013, I was able to attend my first couple Fakku panels. Jacob and Ben were very entertaining and kept the crowd laughing the whole time. Their hentai worth watching panel was only just the beginning.
Not to mention our awesome podcast we have with Not only does Fakku add humor to the panel, they are also quite informative. At their Eroge and Visual Novel Panel, they showed off many major titles of the genre; many of which I have personally played and enjoyed.Fakku’s list of these games and stories were surprisingly good.
Many people who are knowledgeable in the genre knew more or less the great majority of content that was listed. For those who haven’t even touched visual novels or eroge, any game on the list would have been a great gateway in to the genre. Here are the games they showed off: True Love started us off for the panel. If you plan to play this eroge, you can wait til all parts are out but, this is definitely a must try for the RPG fan. Three words: Fate, Stay, Night.This is a visual novel that is my personal favorite and is also one of Jacob’s and Ben’s top visual novel ever played.
You play as Emiya Shirou, a typical high school student that was taught very little in Magecraft.One evening, he witnesses a battle between two mysterious men at school. Having been seen by them, one of them chases down Shirou to his home. Shirou manages to hold out long enough for a beautiful young woman in shining armor to save his life. Shirou, along with his newly attained servant Saber, is now a participant in the Holy Grail War; the victor awarded the Holy Grail that can grant any wish desired.This game goes down three routes that must be followed in order: Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heavens Feel.
Many of the choices you make still determine if you run into a game over, or a specific ending. With a colorful cast and a long play time that requires you to revisit certain parts of the visual novel, this visual novel can be a great gateway into to the visual novel world.
Yume Miru Kusuri:A Drug That Makes You Dream is a visual novel/eroge that explores the deeper, darker lives of high school students. Kouhei Kagami, an average Japanese high school student living an average life, sees the world as colorless and dull.
However, three girls burdened girls come into his life, all seeking help one way or another. As the player, you must choose who to help in their time of need.Will it be the lonely yet bullied Shiraki Aeka?
Kirimiya Mizuki, the student council president who is taken for granted due to her position yet is very fearful of her future? Depending on which routes you take, Tomoyo must face many different issues with others who are troubled.As the best selling visual novel of it’s time, it is more focused on the emotional aspect. Clannad will hit readers hard emotionally and will even have them some crying their eyes out.
Swan Song is a visual novel that takes place during a post-disaster environment.Amano Tsukasa, a young college student, is enjoying the night of Christmas Eve until a horrible earthquake strikes. The earthquake leaves the city in ruin while the weather gets worse and turns into a horrible snow storm. Tsukasa meets up with five other survivors and together they must face the harsh reality of the disaster.
Having to deal with the breakdown of society, law and order, and religion, you controlling Tsukasa must make tough decisions.Many choices that you make during this game will have its consequences later in the game so weigh your decisions before you choose. Wanko to Kurasou is like other eroge/visual novels yet, in this, you take care of pets in forms of human girls.
Our story starts when Yuuchi, a college student that lives in an apartment alone, finds a stray anthropoid dog a collapsed dog in the rain. Not wanting to let the dog die, Yuuchi takes the dog in for the night.Seeing the dog as scared and worried, Yuuchi decides to look for the owner of the dog As you continue through the story, you learn that pets such as cats, dogs, and birds show some intelligence and specialize in some activities yet, retain some animal instinct.
Now if you’ve played strategy games like Fire Emblem or Advanced Wars, you’ll very much enjoy Sengoku Rance.This eroge takes place in feudal Japan, during the Sengoku period and is the seventh game in the Rance series. Rance, a savior of four major continents, ventures to Japan to fulfill his impulsive sex addiction and meets a very sick and fragile Nobunaga Oda. In exchange for all the beautiful women of Japan, Rance takes command of Nobunaga’s army and sets off on a conquest to unite the territories. As the player, you have to conquer all of Japan in a set amount of time.Many units can be recruited and have many different special abilities that can strengthen your army. Once you’ve taken over or allied yourself with different territories, you’re rewarded with the land and spoils.more importantly, the women. I’d be cautious of how you play this eroge because if you don’t make the right choices at certain points of the game, the battles can get very hard to play in the later stages and you’d be force to start all over.
However the many different routes and challenges are definitely worth running through.Another one known better for it’s anime, the Stein’s;Gate visual novel presents more than what the anime showed. Okabe Rintarou is a “mad scientist” of the “Future Gadget Laboratory” creating many devices to take down the “Organization”. He may be crazy in the head, but Rintarou and his two friends Shiina and Itaru that make up the group are more in to the otaku scene in Akihabara.
While attending a seminar about time travel, Rintarou runs into the body of Makise Kurisu in a pool of blood. Sending a text to Itaru, Rintarou experiences a weird phenomena and finds out that he has sent an e-mail into the past, changing the current time-line. As the visual novel progresses, you the player receive various phone calls and texts.Responding or ignoring them may change the plot drastically.
This visual novel only came out in Japan, but there is an online translation done online. Be sure to check this one out if you’re a fan of the anime. Last but not least, we have. This eroge, made by a collaboration of users from 4chan, was made from scratch from a doujinshi sketch by artist Raita. After being confessed to, our main character Hisao suffers a heart attack and is later diagnosed with chronic cardiac dysrhythmia and congenital heart muscle deficiency.Being fragile as he is now, Hisao now attends Yamaku High School, a school for the disabled. Teaser published for new Pulltop game Posted on February 18, 2017 Pulltop has also published a new teaser this weekend. On this for their 14th game we unfortunately do not get a lot of information to work with.We can see the silhouettes of 3 assumed heroines surrounded by musical notes. Something that might hint to the direction of the story.The teaser line is fairly non-descriptive as well, so we’ll have to wait until they publish some more actual information on the story and heroines. What we do know is that character design (and most likely art) will be handled by Ayumu Motoi, Beko Tarou, and Marui.
Ayumu Motoi has worked on several Pulltop titles before, while Marui previously worked on several titles by sister brand Pulltop Latte and Beko Tarou joined in for Miagete Goran, Yozora no Hoshi o. Meaning that the art will be mostly handled by familiar names from previous Pulltop titles. The story planning is done by veteran and Pulltop regular Eiji Takashima, who’s joined by other writers Natake, Asta Konno, and Fudoh Takeru.
